Mechanics Training Program (MTP)

The staff members of the Mechanics Training Program have a wide variety of experience in motorsports. You will work with and be taught by people who know the realities of the business of auto racing and who are dedicated to preparing you for your career. They will share their experiences with you so that when you graduate, you will start your career with a clear understanding of the possible opportunities, as well as the ability to shape your career to your talents and desires.

You have an opportunity to participate in our driving courses. These courses are similar to the Jim Russell driving courses that world-class drivers such as Jacques Villeneuve, Jimmy Vasser, Emerson Fittipaldi, Casey Mears, Memo Gidley and many more have participated in on their way to successful careers in the sport.

Jim Russell provides your crucial first year of race experience. Your success depends on your desire to learn and ability to apply your skills in a team environment.

Courses begin in January and June of each year. The cost of the course includes books, tools and uniforms. This also includes all in-shop and classroom instruction and any guest speakers hired for the session. It does not include crash damage or additional guest speakers that offer optional services to our students at a discount but that are not part of the program. All living expenses are the responsibility of the student. Please call 800-733-0345 for details.

The process of admission is simple. Schedule a tour date, attend the tour here at the track, submit an application and if accepted, submit a $100 deposit. Full payment is due 30 days before the start date.

The Mechanics Training Program is one of the best ways for anyone to begin a career in professional Motorsports.
