Racing requires more than pure speed. Successful drivers at every level combine speed with race acumen in order to finish on top. In the Advanced School of Racing, drivers gain the necessary knowledge of the racing environment needed to be competitive from the start.
The first day of the program reviews car control and advanced driving dynamics; however, with a higher expectation of proficiency.
For the second day, the attention turns to racecraft. Passing, drafting and corner exit dominate the first part of the day. High speed into a heavy braking zone, where the majority of passes are made, gets specific attention. Advanced car control exercises that focus on the mastery of load transfer and minimizing understeer precede a 30-minute passing session followed by two 30-minute practice sessions with data debriefs.
Day 3 replicates a race event, with a 30-minute practice and 30-minute qualifying session taking up the first half of the day. Drivers will practice rolling start sessions providing the chance to come to grips with the pressure filled race starts from a variety of grid positions. The afternoon includes two races, the first a five-lap affair and the second lasting 20 minutes.
